The Book In A Nutshell

Our perception of God is frequently misinformed, and therefore our view of God is often deformed. I want to be a part of reforming and realigning people’s understanding of God’s story and how it connects and coincides with our story. One manner of this dis-alignment is how we have connected our happiness to God‘s goodness.

The goal of this book is to help people see that happiness has been wrongly inserted into the equation of finding fulfillment and purpose in life. Happiness was never meant to be the goal. Relationship with God has always been, not only the goal, but the journey of ultimate fulfillment and purpose and joy in spite of our presenting circumstances. Living in an awareness of His fierce, yet tender, loving presence changes everything.

I ache for others to know him as he really is - not as our circumstances want to define him as.

Our world is broken. People are turned inward, placing themselves at the center of the larger story. But He is center. We are meant to be an intimate part of his story. We were made by him and for him. We were made to be in relationship with him. Companionship. Complete dependence. The finite resting in the infinite One. The dependent trusting the independent One. The limited finding their source in the unlimited One.

Imagine a world where people began to realize their purpose, even in their pain and wresting with the darkness that wants to press in all around. Imagine a people who knew their calling involved drawing their light from The Light and then reflecting such light to the world around them. Imagine you and me encouraging one another with eternal expressions of hope and visions of what we are living for…expressions that have less to do with how I feel in the moment and more to do with my ultimate purpose in this life: knowing Jesus intimately, actively, dynamically. Ooohhhhh that the world would begin to see their purpose is so much larger than their limited current understanding. Oh that we would begin to wrap our hearts and minds around this. Together. Talking. Listening. Spurring each other on.

This is the conversation this book invites you into. Join the conversation. It’s worth everything! You are worth it. He is worth it!

Why Did I Choose This Title?

Many people LOVE the title, others struggle with it, and some are confused by it.
One thing is quite sure, it catches your attention and possibly in a positive or
negative way. That is on purpose! I believe the message in the book is worth
sharing with as many people as possible, specifically those who might not know
God or are struggling with God. I am writing this book for the many I’ve spoken
with over the years who blame God for their unhappiness and for the

Christians who just doesn’t understand the dynamic relationship

God longs for with his people.

I don’t swear. That’s just not me, or my normal way of speaking. I intentionally
put a strikethrough the word “
dammit” for a reason. I want people to see that
there is another perspective, a different lens by which to live, and a better goal
to pursue with their lives. The book offers that better vision for their life.

I hope you will be challenged, encouraged, and join me in praying that each
person who reads this book will look to Jesus for their deepest needs, longings,
hope, joy and life beyond what this world offers. May we keep our eyes fixed on
the author and perfecter of our faith, the lover of our souls, the most beautiful
and truly awesome being: JESUS! He offers us so much more than temporary,
self created, circumstantial happiness!

Kelli would never say this about herself, but as her husband, I can tell you that
this is absolutely true from those who know and love her;

Kelli has a reputation. She is radically passionate about Jesus and living out
every aspect of her life from an intimate relationship with Him.

As a wife, mother, educator, spiritual coach, and communicator, she infuses
the vibrancy of her passion for Jesus into visible form with each person whose
life intersects with hers.

Raised a “Holiday Christian,” her life was transformed by the realization of the
intensity of God’s love for her through Jesus. The impact of Kelli’s experience
with the extravagant love of God left an indelible mark on her and is the basis
of the transforming work He continues to do, drawing her deeper into the
riches of His incomprehensible beauty and generous love.

Kelli lives, teaches, coaches, counsels, and writes from that space. You can see
it in her eyes and feel it in words as the Spirit pulls on your heart through her
elevation of His greatness.

Kelli would never be so generous with herself to describe herself this way, but
for the past 30 years, I have borne witness to the reality of God’s grace, love,
and work in her life.

This is Kelli Willson: a radical lover of Jesus, who worships and serves God with
all that she is and every ounce of strength that God has given her. To Him be
the glory. - Mark Willson

“I Just Want To Be HAPPY, God…dammit” is the first of a number of books
I plan to write, and in fact, have already begun writing. As I write, I don’t
pretend to have it all down or have all the answers… But I hope that in
sharing the things I have learned, you will find encouragement and
